[About Kenya Kabaddi Federation]

In 2013, Madam Laventer Oguta founded the Kenya Kabaddi Union and established the Kenya Kabaddi National Team. Her interest in the sport was sparked when she watched a game on YouTube. She subsequently became part of the first team to travel to India and participate in the World Kabaddi Championship. Motivated by her love for the sport and as a dedicated member of the Kenya Rugby Women’s Team, she took the initiative to introduce kabaddi to Kenya. To this day, Madam Oguta remains committed to the growth of kabaddi not only in Kenya but also throughout Africa.

Kenya Kabaddi has been privileged to send players to the esteemed Pro Kabaddi League in India. Since the inception of the league, more than five Kenyan players have represented various clubs in India. Simon Kibura made history as the first Kenyan to participate, playing for Puneri Paltan (Season 2) and Bengal Warriors (Season 3). Phelix Opana played for Bengal Warriors (Season 3), and the team captain, David Mosambayi, previously played for Puneri Paltan (Season 3) and currently represents Haryana Steelers (Season 5).
