The Kenya Kabaddi Union is proud to announce the highly anticipated 2nd Kenya Junior National Kabaddi Championship 2026, scheduled to take place on 28th June 2026 at the prestigious Kenya Academy of Sports.
Following the success of the inaugural edition, the championship returns bigger, stronger, and more competitive, bringing together young kabaddi talent from schools across Kenya for a thrilling showcase of skill, teamwork, discipline, and athletic excellence.
A Championship for Future Stars
The championship has been designed to nurture and develop the next generation of Kenyan kabaddi athletes while promoting sportsmanship and youth empowerment through sport. Players from primary schools, junior secondary schools, and secondary schools will compete for top honors in various categories.
The event also serves as an important national talent identification platform, where outstanding players will be monitored by the Kenya Kabaddi Union technical team for future development programs and possible inclusion in provisional junior national team structures.
Championship Categories
The competition will feature the following categories:
- Primary School Boys
- Primary School Girls
- Junior Secondary School Boys
- Junior Secondary School Girls
- Secondary School Boys
- Secondary School Girls
Venue and Match Setup
The championship will be held on professional synthetic kabaddi mats at the Kenya Academy of Sports, offering players a world-class environment to compete and showcase their talents.
Matches are expected to run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with schools from different counties expected to participate in what promises to be one of the largest junior kabaddi gatherings in the country.
Registration Details
Schools interested in participating are encouraged to register early.
Registration Requirements
- Minimum of 12 players per team
- Maximum of 3 officials per school
- Registration fee: KES 500 per participant
- Boys’ weight category: 70 kg and below
All players must be dressed in proper kabaddi playing kits and kabaddi shoes during matches.
The deadline for submission of entries is 20th June 2026.
Media Coverage and Promotion
The championship will receive extensive media coverage through the Kenya Kabaddi Union’s official digital platforms including YouTube live streaming and social media updates.
Photographs and videos captured during the event will be used strictly for promotional, educational, and documentation purposes related to the championship and participating schools. The Kenya Kabaddi Union has confirmed that such media content will not be shared with unrelated third parties.
Awards and Recognition
Winning teams and participants will receive:
- Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophies
- Medals and certificates
- Participation certificates for all schools
The championship aims not only to reward excellence but also to encourage broader participation and growth of kabaddi at grassroots and school levels.
